Scanning a Batch
Scan images to a batch
What can you do
Scanning in Axiom Capture refers to the process of digitizing physical documents and importing them into the system for further processing, classification, and indexing. Axiom Capture supports both manual and automated scanning workflows, allowing users to create structured batches of documents that can be validated, enhanced, and uploaded to Axiom Pro
Scan
- Create a new batch or Open a batch
- Make sure the documents are in the scanner
- Click on Scan
The page(s) available in the scanner feeder will start scanning and you will see the images in the image viewer as each page is scanned. Scanning will automatically stop if there are no pages remaining in the scanner feeder. You may add more pages and start the scanning again within the same batch.
Once the scan is complete, you will not be able to send the batch back to Axiom Capture from Axiom Pro for re-scanning or QA.
The batch will be displayed in the Input section in Axiom Pro.
Note: After a batch is sent to Axiom Pro, the scanned images will remain on the local or network drive by default. The system can be configured to delete the images automatically from the local or network drive after those images are successfully sent over to Axiom Pro. Please contact the Image API Help Desk at (866) 815-8557 to make these changes.
Page Separators
Page separators are used during scanning to create folders and documents at various levels. The system detects barcodes designated as page separators based on definitions in the system configuration file. Predefined barcode separators are available for actions such as starting a new folder, creating a new document, or scanning single-page documents.
Barcode processing is configured at the catalog level in Axiom Pro, while Axiom Capture reads the values of recognized smart barcodes and stores them accordingly.
These barcode values are then passed from Axiom Capture to Axiom Pro, where they are used as indexing elements to support document classification and retrieval.
